Shoreline, Washington is located immediately north of Seattle in King County, Washington. Considered part of the Northshore, it has a strong appeal for commuters since it's in that area at the north end of Lake Washington where it's easy to travel either into Seattle or southeast to the Eastside. Historically, Shoreline's boundaries stretched from the shores of Puget Sound on the west side to the shores of Lake Washington on the other. These days, the Puget Sound waterfront is retained but the Lake Washington waterfront falls under another municipality.
Shoreline's proximity to the Sound means that there's expansive views of the Olympic Mountains from the right vantage points. According to Northwest Newcomer's Magazine, "Money Magazine declared Shoreline to be one of the 10 Best Places to Live in Washington. Its 7,312 acres hold over 40 churches, 25 parks encompassing over 400 acres, two libraries, a museum, arts council, teen center and a senior center. Hiking, biking, bird watching, golf, tennis and more may all be pursued right in town."
Like many communities in the Seattle area, Shoreline has a number of different neighborhoods including Richmond Beach, Hillwood, Echo Lake, Ballinger, Innis Arden, Richmond Highlands, Meridian Park, Ridgecrest, Fircrest, Briarcrest, Parkwood, Westminster Triangle, Highland Terrace, and the Highlands. The City of Shoreline has a useful neighborhood map with that shows the general boundaries of those districts, as well as a page with contact information for neighborhood association leadership.
