First developed by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, he proposed the idea of daylight savings in an essay called “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light.”
In 1966, the U.S. Uniform Time Act established a set pattern for observing Daylight Saving Time across the country. In 2005, the Energy Policy Act was passed, changing the dates for Daylight Saving Time to begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November.

- reset anything on timers - lights, sprinkler systems, etc.
- do a check on smoke detector batteries, fire extinguishers, flashlights
- restock emergency & first aid kits
- change PIN numbers & passwords
